Characterization of Poly(vinyl chloride). IV. Porosity in PVC Powder Samples

ABSTRACT:  Electron-microscopy and mercury intrusion porosimetry are employed to describe the porosity distribution in PVC particles from solution, bulk, emulsion, and suspension polymerizations. The results from both techniques are consistant. The interpretation of porosimetric data reveals the percentage of interparticle porosity, accessible and inaccessible intraparticle porosities of a powder sample.
